I believe this gadget was well worth the money! I have one of those dogs, a big one too, that sheds constantly and this time, thanks to this attachment, I am able to keep the dog hair in the house to a minimum. Luckily, even though he barks at the vacuum cleaner, he will hold perfectly still when I groom him with this attachment.

I figured it would vacuum up the fur as it was brushed. It doesn't. It creates the same effect as the rake/brush of the same shape and style, by getting alot of the loose fur and undercoat. Normally I have lots of fly away fur and a huge pile of fur to pick up and toss. The vacuum attachment, probably vacuums up about 50% of the fur as you brush, but I had to stop brushing, and lightly "wand" it over the loose fur to vacuum it, as well as stop to "pick off the fur" from the teeth of the brush, to coax it into the suction area. As I write this, a lot of the loose fur, not vacuumed up is flying all around me.
There is some convenience factor from the pile of fur. However, there is pulling out the vacuum, keeping your dog calm as you manuever the vacuum hose and tool, as you manuever the fur that is lifted from the dog with the rake into the suction. I will be returning it. I'd rather pull out a good brush and make the time more of a bonding time as well as a grooming event. Outside on the lawn or in their bed, knowing I will have a pile to toss and then a quick vacuum of the surrounding area, is better than dealing with the hose and anxiety.

I have an old yellow lab that sheds all the time. She has the thickest, wooliest coat I have ever seen. I have always had problems with her coat and trying to keep her brushed out. It has been an impossible task as her hair is very thick, heavy and almost like there are layers after layers. I have tried everything. I have purchased every product they come out with and to no avail was left with a shedding dog. This product by Bissell is absolutely amazing! Within about 3 minutes of hooking this up to my vacuum and starting to groom her I had a tank full of hair. Wow! She loves to be groomed so thats not a problem and if your dog is not frightened by the vacuum, then this is the product for you! Thank you Bissell! This is an A++++++++ and amazing product and is very sturdy and durable, not a cheap toy.
